Taste of Olam Haba weaves together a wide range of Jewish practices, stories, and traditions to meet the diverse spiritual, cultural, and emotional needs of our community. We believe there are many ways to come closer: to each other, to the Divine, to justice, and to joy, whether through prayer, Torah study, creative expression, organizing for liberation, or simply showing up for one another.
Becoming a member is one way to root yourself in this collective project of Jewish life. Membership helps sustain our shared space of learning, questioning, remembering, singing, and celebrating. It is an act of care for yourself, for others, and for the future of Jewish community here in the South.
You are always welcome at our services and gatherings, whether or not you are a member. But if our approach feels like home, if you want to help co-create a spiritual, intergenerational, and justice-minded Jewish community, we warmly invite you to join us as a member of Taste of Olam Haba. You do not have to be Jewish to be a member.
-
We ask that each member expect to contribute a minimum of 10 hours to the community per year. This could include creating a service, bringing food for Shabbat, doing data entry, organizing a Taste of Olam Haba contingent at rallies and anything that helps us thrive.
-
Economic accessibility is important to us. We operate under a system of terumah. The term "terumah" comes from the free-will offerings given by the biblical Israelites as contributions to the building of the Mishkan (portable sanctuary) as they wandered in the wilderness.
Terumah acknowledges that personal financial circumstances vary among members of the community, allowing some to participate at a substantially higher level than others. Terumah asks that each member of the community commit to supporting at a rate that feels most accessible to you.
Your contribution supports our programming costs, stipends for contractors and leaders, space rental, accessibility needs, ritual supplies, and our mutual aid work.
